Il sont habitué à  la tristesse, à la destruction, ils craignent que quelque chose  d'affreux leur arrive. Ils ne peuvent envisager que quelque chose de  bien se passe car le monde est malade, à l'agonie. Mon idée est qu'il  faut commencer par étudier les mythes et voir ce qu'on peut faire avec  l'impossible. J'ai réuni quelques équations qui semblent être ridicules  mais qui concordent. Je les ai montrées à des mathématiciens qui furent  bouleversés car ils ne purent pas dire qu'elles étaient fausses mais  seulement étranges et qu'elles rendaient le monde ridicule. Écouter peut être l'un  des plus grands plaisirs. Vous devez apprendre à écouter parce qu'en  apprenant cela vous apprendrez aussi à voir avec les yeux de l'esprit.  La musique, voyez-vous, peint des images que seuls les yeux de l'esprit  peuvent voir. Ouvrez les oreilles afin de voir avec les yeux de  l'esprit."&lt;br /&gt;Enlevé sur Saturne par des extra-terrestres qui lui  révélèrent son destin de musicien et de messager, Herman Poole Blount,  Sonny Blount, Sonny Lee ou Hermann Sonny Blount grandit en États-Unis  d'Amérique, Birmingham, Sud Alabama avant de (re)devenir Sun Ra (ou Le  Sony'r Ra) : gourou cosmique.&lt;br /&gt;Sun Ra croyait beaucoup à l’existence  de fantômes vivant parmi nous comme les autres êtres humains ."Il y a  des gens qui sont des fantômes, j'en suis presque sûr. Selon certains,  la mort aurait été abolie il y à 3000 ans. […] Ce n'est pas parce qu'on  ne peut pas voir certaines choses qu'elles n'existent pas. […]"*&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Il aurait enregistré à la tête de son Arkestra (Solar  Arkestra, Myth Science Arkestra, 21st Century Echoes Arkestra,  Intergalactic Reasearch Arkestra, Astro Infinity Arkestra, etc.) plus de  deux cents albums. Dans les années 50 Il créer son propre label  "Saturn"dans une forme DIY. Pianiste, joueur de claviers,  percussionniste, compositeur, poète , chef d'orchestre, et scientifique  il commence à jouer, dès le début des années 50 d'un instrument  électrique à clavier, de son invention (dont certaines possibilités  sonores évoquent d'avantage celles des Ondes Martenot ou de  l'Aetherwelleninstrument conçu par le soviétique Theremin en 1924 que  celles du piano électrique ou de l'orgue traditionnel), par la suite, il  aura tendance à essayer toutes sortes les claviers (Moog, Farfisa,  Célesta, Theremin, Telharmonium, Crumar Mainman, Intergalactic  Organ...). &lt;br /&gt;"[...] Ça n'est pas vraiment de la poésie, parfois les  vers riment, parfois il ne riment pas. Ce que je veux faire, c'est  associer des mots pour qu'ils produisent un effet. Si vous mélangez deux  produits chimiques, vous obtenez une réaction. De la même manière, si  vous mettez ensemble certains mots, vous obtiendrez une réaction qui  aura une valeur pour les gens de cette planète. C'est pourquoi je  continue de mettre de mots ensemble. Einstein a dit qu'il cherchait une  équation pour la vie éternelle. Mais on a construit la bombe atomique et  son projet et resté en plan. Mais je suis sûr qu'il avait raison.  Mettre des mots ensemble, ou même, si on pouvait, peindre l'image qu'il  faut, qui émettrait les vibrations qu'il faut, ça changerait le destin  de la planète entière. Ça vas plus loin que la science-fiction.  L'impossible m'intéresse parce que tout ce qui est possible a été fait  sans que le monde change pour autant. Notre époque est très étrange et  il va falloir utiliser des choses qu'on n'a jamais imaginées. C'est pour  cela que je parle toujours de l'impossible et que je demande à mes  musiciens de jouer l'impossible. Et parfois, ils le font."*&lt;br /&gt;L’œuvre  est protéiforme. Voué au free jazz, il développe une mystique musicale  et spirituelle qui lui est propre, sa science-fiction mélange  sorcellerie vaudou, folklores africains, œuvres populaires du jazz noir  américain, ambiances exotiques, et psychédélisme, et s'articule entre  mythes ancestraux (aztèques, grec, égyptiens...), panafricanisme, et  philosophie cosmique.&lt;br /&gt;Délicatesse du vaporeux et chaos interstellaire  effrayant ; la musique de Sun Ra recrée un monde qui craquelle  régulièrement la surface de l'air, aspire le cosmos dans le siphon d’un  trou noir, et contamine les oreilles qui sans approche.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*Propos recueillis au magnétophone par Jean -Louis Noames. The &lt;em&gt;Symphony &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="" lang="EN-US"&gt;focuses the listener’s attention on a nearly  forgotten technology: the dot matrix printer. Specifically, it employs  the noises the printers make as the sole sound source for a musical  composition. Leaving the constituent elements untouched, the process  imposes a new order upon them, reorganizing the sounds along a musical  structure. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p  style="text-align: left;font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; In this way, &lt;a href="http://www.undefine.ca/en/artists/the-user/" target="_blank"&gt;[The User]&lt;/a&gt; appropriates a technology from an  early-90s era office environment, replacing functional work with music.  Fifteen dot matrix printers become musical instruments; their computers,  connected together by a local area network, become the orchestra used  to play them. To do this, the ‘local area network orchestra’ prints from  text-file scores made up of letters of the alphabet and other ASCII  symbols which become the textures, tones and rhythms of the music. The  conductor of the orchestra is also a computer: the network server. The  server conducts the orchestra via a serial network which allows precise  control over each member of the orchestra.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div face="arial" style="text-align: left;"&gt; &lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Conlon  Nancarrow&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;, les «37 Études pour  piano  mécanique »  (1950-1968), dont chaque étude est un exercice virtuose de contrepoint,  influencé par Bach, Stravinski et le jazz, une partition éminemment  savante que jamais aucun pianiste, aussi habile qu’il soit, aurait pu  exécuter. Chacun des milliers de trous du rouleau de piano mécanique  devait être perforé manuellement, et Nancarrow a estimé que dix heures  de perforation correspondaient à huit secondes de musique.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"&gt;György &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;  &lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;em style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"&gt;Ligeti&lt;/em&gt;, (Œuvres pour orgue de Barbarie). Dès sa plus tendre enfance , Ligeti a  été fasciné par les mécanismes de toutes sortes : instruments de mesure,  automates, pendules objets de précision, etc. […] L' orgue de Barbarie  instrument à la fois désuet et moderne, humain et mécanique, précis et  mystérieux ne manqua d'exercer sa séduction sur le compositeur du GRAND  MACABRE.  […] Muni d'une soufflerie et de tuyaux, l'orgue de Barbarie se  différencie de l'orgue d'église par sa taille et surtout par son  clavier. Alors que le (ou les) claviers d'un orgue comprennent 61  touches, celui d'un orgue de Barbarie n'en comprend que 42, qui sont on  fait des petites griffes aptes à "lire" le carton perforé qui est le  support du programme : un principe qui rappelle celui des ordinateurs de  la première génération. Cet instrument est donc une préfiguration de l'  "informatique musicale". Ainsi, son clavier (dit "boîte à touches")  d'un orgue de Barbarie permet le jeu d'un instrumentiste virtuel qui  aurait 42 doigts. Le fait que le jeu de cette "interprétation" soit  méticuleusement programmé au moyen de perforations dans la bande de  carton autorise une virtuosité infinie, et plus particulièrement la  maîtrise de la durée de chaque son. Cette possibilité, propre à l'orgue  de Barbarie, permet d'articuler des phrasés expressifs, de contrôler la  pulsation rythmique.
